The municipality of Antigua is located in the center-east of the island and ha a population of 8,000.

In the municipality of Antigua we must mention the Caleta de Fuste, one of the most important tourist enclaves on the island.
From it´s cultural heritage we mention Antigua who in it´s municipality has the Paisaje Protegido Malpaís Grande (protected land) where the oldest aboriginees´ remains known, are found in the Canary Islands, in a town built on the skirts of the volcano.
Also, this municipality has many natural monuments such as the Salinas del Carmen, dating bak to more than 2 centuries back, and the Castillo de la Caleta de Fuste.

As to what cultural monuments is concerned, of Fuerteventura we must mention 2 very important ones from a tourist view point or a cultural view point. Besides from the Caleta del Fust, saint and tourist landmark of this location, there are La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Antigua and the Tourism Center of Molino de Antigua.
