To eat in Fuerteventura is to eat in the Canary Islands, the mojo sauce is one of the best condiments and most used in the local cuisine. Fresh products grown in their land, and in their region are the base of their gastronomy, even if there are other influences in their cuisine due to the tourism on the island. Meat and fish form part of the diet on this island that lives off of the sea. Blue fish and white fish are on the table in Fuerteventura, the green Mojo and cilantro are the best condiments to serve next to some papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatos).
Of Fuerteventura we also like to speak of the quese majorero, el gofio... (cheeses).
The typical plates on ths Island are: roasted meat, goat meat stew or roasted pig. As to what fish is concerned, fried or roasted, they have a dozen combinations. |
