The six municipalities of Fuerteventura that have a coast line are Puerto del Rosario (capital); Antigua; Betancuria; La Oliva, Pajara and Tuineje. The beaches on this island are predominantely of white sand or black volcanic sand, a beautiful paradise that has caused a rise in tourism.

The most extensive beaches are in the south, more specifically those in Pajara. In the north the municipality of La Oliva belongs to Isla de Lobos. In the municipality of La Oliva the beaches are made of golden sand. In this area given the meteorological conditions that present strong winds, sports like kitesurf and windsurf have become more common. It other beaches scubadiving is also a growing activity.
The coast of Fuerteventura has a total length of 270 kilometers.
